Sunkist Gems Information
Sunkist Gems TipsDiamonds can come in colors as well, with pink and canary diamonds being highly prized variants. Emeralds mirror the lush green of plant life, sapphires are the color of the sky and rubies are a rich blood-red. Others, like pearls or amber, are created from living organisms. Most gems are minerals. There are variations in color in all of these gems, of course, and in diamonds, but those are the colors most normally associated with them. Usually gems are of a color that mirrors other natural elements we consider beautiful or valuable. The carbon that makes diamonds comes from the melting of pre-existing rocks in the Earth's upper mantle. If other conditions like pressure and chemistry is right then the carbon atoms in the melting crystal rock bond to build diamond crystals. According to geologists the first delivery of diamonds was somewhere around 2,5 billion years ago and the most recent was 45 million years ago. Diamonds form between 75-120 miles below the earth's surface. There is an abundance of carbon atoms in the mantle. Temperature changes in the upper mantle forces the carbon atoms to go deeper where it melts and finally becomes new rock, when the temperature reduces. He first discovered this greenish zinc carbonate mineral from the Kelly Mine in New Mexico. Want to keep that Brilliance and Shine? Diamonds require cleaning so that maximum amounts of light can refract fiery brilliance. Even when we are not wearing them, they collect dust. Lotions, soaps, our natural skin oils, can cause film and grime on diamonds and inhibit their brilliance. Through our day to day movements our diamonds get smudged and soiled. Remember that all it takes is a few minutes and a little care to keep that diamond as fiery as the day you first saw it. Sunkist Gems Facts
